As Sisters of Loretto our lives are founded upon a profound act
of faith in the enduring love of God and a need to share this love.  To believe firmly in God’s love means we must be able to receive this gift of love, to make our decisions in light of it, and to trust human beings, both ourselves and others.

Call to Jubilee 2012

“The basic desire to be united in love with God, with one another, with all people, and with all creation shapes this community of faith.” (I Am the Way)

“Together we can accomplish what we could never do singly. We hope that corporately and individually we can put the gifts and energies we possess at the service of one another and of that part of the human family with whom we call to jubileeare in contact. We are emboldened by one another’s courage, strengthened by one another’s commitment to justice, heartened by others’ good humor.” (Loretto Life)

Grateful for our shared life of faith in a loving God, we will …
… assist one another in embracing the gospel and living according to its spirit and teachings;*
… live gently and lovingly with one another in good times and bad, listening deeply and speaking honestly, without rancor or disrespect;
… live and work collaboratively in trust of one another, accepting and respecting differences among us with generous and open hearts;
… practice a spirit of peace in our war-torn world.

Affirming and respecting the gift of each member and our resources, we will …
… be responsible stewards, accepting and using our resources with reverence for the good of creation;*
… simplify our lives, collaborating with others to use fewer of Earth’s resources and sharing what we have with those who have less;
… hold all things lightly so that, if deprived of them, we lose neither dignity nor peace.

Aware that our lives are rooted in the compassionate and courageous mission of Jesus, we will …
… stand with the voiceless and powerless, challenging injustice wherever it occurs—in the actions and/or policies of corporations, governments, and religious institutions;**
… use Community resources to protect and heal the environment, do economic justice, protect human rights, and promote peace;
… welcome the giftedness and challenges of a multicultural world;
… live in harmony with all the inhabitants of Earth.
