Loretto-Ghana Identity Statement

Posted on December 1, 2016, by Loretto Community

Preamble

My work is loving the world. Let me keep my mind on what matters, which is my work, which is mostly standing still and learning to be astonished.

Mary Oliver, “Messenger”

Appreciation of differences between cultures can lead to equality so that trust can be present and engender love for whatever we bring to each other. We share mission in each of our locations.

We, as FST and Loretto, aware of and holding the tension of our similarities and differences, can bring a creative tenderness to others and thereby serve as a model for ourselves and others through our example and interests, expressions of love, listening and openness, sharing and pursuit of our common goals. The world needs the example of love and trust. Our trusting relationships help to model the change we wish to see in the larger world; growing together, we can be a reflection of God.

The Seed of God grows into God and so let yourself go and let God be God in you.(Adapted from Meister Eckhart)

Identity Statement

We are two culturally diverse Communities dedicated to service through our mutual loving relationships.

Mission Statement

We, as FST and Loretto, come together
1. to respond to needs of our world,

2. to deepen our awareness of the interconnectedness of ourselves with all creation in this global universe,

3. to be enriched by our shared communal and prayer life.
