Celebrate!—Barbara Croghan and Donna Mattingly
Leading the Way — Donna Mattingly and Barbara Croghan process into the Church of the Seven Dolors during the Loretto Foundation Day, April 25 joint celebratory Mass in honor of Barbara’s 75th jubilee and Donna ’s final vows ceremony. Serving as candle bearers are Donna’s siblings, Linda, Susan, Lisa and Julita. Following Donna and Barbara, from left, are celebrants Loretto Motherhouse Chaplain Father Irvin Mouser and visiting priest Father Ben Meyer of Denver. The group processed in to the opening strains of “Sing With Your Life,” sung by a large Loretto choir accompanied by Mary Swain on keyboard.
First Hugs of the Day — Donna and Barbara can’t keep from smiling as they share a quick hug after Mass before heading off to a delicious Motherhouse feast in honor of the duo. It was said by those in the know that Barbara had readily agreed to be hugged all day long in honor of her 75th jubilee. “Hugs today. One day only,” Barbara told a line waiting to give hugs.
Alpha and Omega and Me — Elaine Prevallet catches up with Donna and Barbara to congratulate them after Mass. Elaine, who gave the homily, referred to the pair as “the Alpha and Omega” because they represent the beginnings and culmination of a life of ministry in the community.
