Loretto Link Holds First General Meeting

As this issue of Interchange is being sent out to the Community, Loretto Link is meeting for the first time. Members are gathered at the Motherhouse, in St. Louis, in Denver and by Zoom around the world on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.

The first objective for our meeting is to experience a sense of community. Because Loretto is so widespread, we don’t all know one another so at this Link meeting, like all the Loretto face-to-face gatherings, we plan to take time to develop deeper relationships among us. We are talking in small groups about some of our life choices that have put us on this same path.

Our second objective is to gather input from as many members as possible about what Loretto Link is and what it can become. This is unexplored territory for many of us. We knew we wanted to form a civil corporation, but we have not considered its potential. The planning committee asked members what their hopes and expectations were for this meeting, and the responses were varied indeed.

Link has set membership dues of $18.12 per year. We have raised more than $20,000, an amount that was matched by the Congregation distribution of realized investment gains in 2017.

Three Link members volunteered to help Anthony Mary Sartorius carry on the annual “yard sale.” And Loretto Link was granted nonprofit status by the Internal Revenue Service. We will keep all of Loretto informed about Link’s next steps.
