Loretto Community, Dominican Sisters of Peace invite all to May 6 “Community Gathering” near Statue of Liberty billboard in Springfield, Ky., to stand in solidarity with marginalized communities – including those affected by unjust immigration policies, job loss and systemic discrimination, such as the LGBTQ+ community – and to urge Congress to enact comprehensive reforms to restore dignity and justice for all. The billboard, depicting the Statue of Liberty, poses the question, “When did we see you hungry, homeless, ill, persecuted?”

When/Where: 3:30 p.m. ET Tuesday, May 6, Jubilee Year, 2025, US 55 & KY Route 3164, Springfield, Ky. Rain or shine.
Why:

  • Stand in solidarity with the Sisters of central Kentucky to raise awareness of those impoverished by the cruel operations & unjust policies of our government.
  • Challenge people of conscience to align the ideals of the Statue of Liberty and the words of Jesus with today’s issues of justice and human rights.
  • Foster welcoming communities and advocate for change.
  • Call on Congress to enact comprehensive immigration reform and facilitate the immediate return of unjustly deported individuals.

Who: Dominican Sisters of Peace, Sisters of Loretto/Loretto Co-members, sisters of other religious congregations, friends of Loretto and all people of faith concerned about unjust U.S. immigration policies.
