Because the Gospel urges us, Loretto works for justice and acts for peace through our four pillars of Education, Advocacy, Healing and Spirituality.
We began advocacy work in 1812, the year of Loretto’s founding. This question, and its answer, is foundational to our mission: Who is my neighbor? Everyone.
We extend the boundaries of learning and justice, of human dignity and peace, of active faith and pastoral concern through works of education and efforts on behalf of the poor.
IATW #7
Loretto’s advocacy flows from our commitment to the Gospel and our belief that justice is love in action. Our work often follows the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Loretto is called to be close to all who suffer: the homeless, immigrants, those working for climate change, those who have no food, those searching for peace and the common good. We draw on our faith to make a difference, to have a courageous response in light of the various crises in the world today.
What is the action God expects here and now? Love for God and doing justice go together. That is advocacy work. That is Loretto’s work.
