Mission Committees, Networks and Special Funds
Members of the Loretto Community carry out our mission work individually, through committees and networks, as a Community, and in collaboration with other groups. Committees and networks focus on specific mission priorities and often are rooted in resolutions adopted at Community Assemblies.

Founded in 1985, the Latin America/Caribbean Committee (LACC) exists to be a healing presence, a source of hope, and a force for change while seeking justice and peace for all who are impacted by the inhumane immigration policies and the decades-long interventionist foreign policy of the United States throughout the region. The Loretto Earth Network (LEN) exists to educate and alert its members and all who would join them in both the mystery and miracle of creation and the crisis that threatens our universe. Learn more here.
Vision Statement of the Loretto Earth Network
The Loretto Earth Network is dedicated to re-establishing right relationships between the human community and the Earth community. We are not separate from the universe. We are living into a new understanding of the sacredness of all creation and of our oneness with Earth. It is our ever-growing love, concern and reverence for the earth which compel us to take action and to reverse the destruction humans have wrought on the planet through ignorance, greed and wastefulness.The dream of Earth in harmony with that of its Creator will be fulfilled as we are transformed and participate in the healing and transformation of the total Earth community. This transformation will lead us:
- to respect profoundly the mystery of life on Earth and in one another, to move away from habits of dominance and submission,
- to turn from violence into the ways of peace and to enlarge our perspective so as to embrace the cosmos.
The Peace Committee educates the Loretto Community and represents the Community in the public sector. Issues the committee works on include abolition of nuclear weapons, gun safety, non-violent communication and action, and the military budget. Read more here.

The Loretto Community supports innovative social change projects through the Special Needs Fund. Organizations can submit grant applications for projects that exemplify the mission of the Loretto Community to “work for justice and act for peace because the Gospel urges us.” Learn more about the grant application on this web page.
The Hunger Fund, inaugurated in 1974, is a fund to which Community members and friends make contributions. Each fall the accumulated funds from that year are distributed to groups or individuals dedicated to feeding the hungry. Read more here.
