Please join the LACC Immigration Spotlight on Friday, November 5th at 11am EDT to hear Maggie Loredo, the co-director of Otros Dreamers en Acción (ODA).  Maggie was born in San Luis Potosí, México, and migrated undocumented to the United States as an infant with her family. In 2008, she was forced to “voluntarily” return to Mexico and has been active in the deportee and returnee community ever since, co-founding ODA in 2015.
ODA is an organization dedicated to mutual support and political action for and by those who grew up in the United States and now find themselves in Mexico due to deportation, the deportation of a family member, or the threat of deportation. ODA believes in the power of arts and culture to learn from one another and tell their stories from the inside out, the potential as a community to make positive change in the aftermath of deportation and exile, and the right to be from two countries.
The Latin America Caribbean Committee’s Immigration Spotlight is a bi-monthly opportunity to explore emerging issues and challenges regarding immigration, featuring people working for immigration justice.
