LACC invites you to join Felicia Rangel-Samponaro on Immigration Spotlight, Friday, May 27th, at 11 am EDT.

Felicia is one of the directors at The Sidewalk School, a rapid response organization that started in 2019 inside the Matamoros, MX encampment with the one single mission of educating the children.

The Sidewalk School, now based in Reynosa, MX, partnered with other NGOs to build and run the Kaleo shelter, which provides housing and medical care to asylum seekers. And importantly they provide education to the children asylum seekers with a school inside of the Kaleo shelter.

For context, here is an April 20th news item about the opening of the Sidewalk School: “We’re there for them:’ New migrant shelter opens in Reynosa for vulnerable families

The Latin America Caribbean Committee’s Immigration Spotlight is a bi-monthly opportunity to explore emerging issues and challenges regarding immigration, featuring people working for immigration justice.
