CSW62 (Commission on the Status of Women) – 2018

2018’s CSW (Commission on the Status of Women) had the priority theme of “challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls.” It reviewed the previous theme of “participation in and access of women to the media, and information and communications technologies and their impact on and use as an instrument for the advancement and empowerment of women.”

Loretto at the UN hosted 69 participants in New York City for the CSW. Loretto at the UN also sponsored two parallel events in the first week. The first was about Anti-Fracking Best Practices. The second event focused on Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Water & Sanitation) and its connection to Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Women’s Rights).
Loretto at the UN also co-hosted with the Working Group on Girls (WGG) a luncheon for visiting students to meet with female ambassadors. The keynote speaker was Sima Bahous, Ambassador for Jordan to the UN.
