Loretto Motherhouse To Host Kentucky 1st Congressional District Candidate Forum July 18; only John ‘Drew’ Williams has confirmed participation to date

The Loretto Motherhouse will host a public forum for candidates running for Kentucky’s 1 st Congressional District from 4 to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 18, in the Conference Room of the Motherhouse Academy Building, 430 Academy Lane, Nerinx, Ky. All are welcome.

The forum is part of the Loretto Motherhouse Peace Committee’s “Countdown to 2026 Series,” which invites candidates for upcoming elections to share their perspectives with local residents. This is the sixth session in the forum series.

To date, only one of the two candidates for the U.S. House seat, Congressional District 1 –John “Drew” Williams — has confirmed his participation. James R. Comer has yet to do so. District 1 covers a large portion of the state, stretching from Western Kentucky into Central Kentucky, including a part of Marion County.

“We’re grateful to offer a space where neighbors can hear directly from those seeking to represent them,” said Loretto Co-member Joyce Minkler of the Loretto Peace Committee. “Thoughtful conversation helps strengthen civic understanding and supports a more engaged community. When people can listen and learn together, it deepens our shared responsibility for the future.”
