Holy Redeemer Church & School Celebrates 125 Years

While the first church was wooden, a new stone church at the corner of Lockwood and Joy was finished in 1897. A year later, parishioners decided to provide a Catholic education for community children in cooperation with the Sisters of Loretto. Girls attended the nearby Loretto Academy on the campus of today’s Webster University, while boys were taught in the back of Holy Redeemer Church.
