Letter to the editor: Restore the USAID

Dear Editor,
I write to ask whether others in our county community are as dismayed as I am by the government’s sudden dismantling of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Much good has been accomplished across the world by this agency for decades: food for starving children, seeds for farmers who can’t afford to buy them, clean water for disease-ridden families; medicine for rural people threatened by deadly diseases, and the list goes on… All of these cost less than half of 1% of our annual federal budget. Not only that, but American farmers are able to sell over $2 billion of their agricultural products annually for international humanitarian aid, and our kindness lets people know that US Americans care about them.
Please contact our Senators (Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul) and our Congressman (James Comer) to urge them to support the full restoration of USAID immediately.
Sincerely,
Sister Patricia McCormick SL
