Loretto Awards Spring Round of Ministry Grants
Posted on July 1, 2019, by Barbara Roche SL
At Assembly 2018, Loretto approved a resolution making “$100,000 … available … in 2019 and again in 2020 and 2021 for access by Loretto Community members, vowed and co, to support their work that furthers Loretto’s mission.” The purpose of these funds is to support the work of Loretto vowed and co-members and the ministries in which they are engaged.
The Loretto Ministry Grants Committee decided to hold two rounds of applications for these funds in 2019, one in spring and one in fall. Grants for the following organizations/projects were approved in the spring round:
- Aid & Service of West Marion County
- Loretto Child Care Center
- Park Hill United Methodist Church Sanctuary
- St. John Center for Homeless Men
- Reach 4A Star Riding Academy
- LEWP (Loretto Empowering Women in Pakistan)
- Sisters of Earth 2020 Event
- Peace Economy Project
- Center for the Promotion of Integral Health (CEPROSI)
- El Paso Sponsoring Organization (EPISO)
- The Healing Place
- UUCT/No More Deaths
- Little Sisters of St. Therese of the Child Jesus in Haiti
As was the case last year, the committee was amazed and grateful for the many applications it received. It is encouraging, especially in these challenging times, to know that Loretto is connected with so many groups that are working for justice and acting for peace in so many different ways around the country. Thank you for all you do, and keep up the good work.
