Overshadow us with your Love, shelter us with kindly care.
Words by Jane Marie Richardson, Copyright Jan.1, 1992, Sisters of Loretto
We have nowhere else to go till harm passes by. Give us courage,
Send your light, and joy will be our praise.
When the dawning breaks, then our hearts will awake
And know a love that never fails, a love all full of grace.
In powerful prose and beautiful music, our Sister Jane Marie composed a wonderful hymn of welcome to greet the Christ child, Jesus, who comes to us all and fulfills the promise of God made long ago.
He is the gift of light in our midst, the promise of peace so needed, the gift of joy to be shared and the seed growing from the beginning of time in the heart of God. As we wait for the Second Coming of the Messiah, join with Loretto in seeking the promise of peace – the promise of shalom – God’s blessing of peace. That is our wish for you and for all of the world this holy season.
