A New Partnership for Loretto at the UN
Posted on August 1, 2024, by Loretto Community
Loretto at the UN is happy to announce an inspiring new partnership with the global organization Sisters Rising Worldwide (SRW). SRW is a relatively new nonprofit making it possible for sisters to overcome the challenges of geography, language and separate congregations to effectively share ideas and strategies that solve the root causes of injustices throughout the world.
Sisters can now network, learn about innovative ways to solve challenges and raise needed funds for their programs. All of us can support this new effort by spreading the word about the SRW website, where donors can support the program of their choice in over 30 countries.
Our connection with the president of SRW, Irene O’Neill CSJ, began nearly a decade ago when former U.N. Representative Sally Dunne met Irene at a meeting of Religious at the UN (RUN). Irene brought connections with the Hilton Foundation to RUN, paving the way for what is now the Justice Coalition of Religious (JCoR). It’s only fitting, then, that our current U.N. Representative Beth Blissman will now be representing SRW as well as Loretto at the UN, supporting the growth and flourishing of SRW, Loretto and the BVM Community through our membership in JCoR and many other groups based at U.N. Headquarters.
Stay tuned for online information sessions about Sisters Rising Worldwide coming up in August and September … and you can always follow Loretto at the UN on Facebook and Instagram.
