Artists find peace at Nerinx

“For most Marion County residents, the property in Nerinx owned by the Sisters of Loretto is just a place for retired members of the order and elderly citizens to reside.

But for many people who live away from here, the rolling acres of farmland, the lakes, and the many trees on the grounds represent a tranquil and serene environment that enables them to gather their thoughts and work to produce exceptional artistry.

It is also where 10 women from various areas of Kentucky will come to as part of the Kentucky Foundation for Women’s 2022 Loretto Residency program. Founded in 1985 by activist Sallie Bingham, the foundation supports literary and visual artists who have demonstrated achievement in creating work high in artistic merit that is based on social justice and acting for peace.”
