Loretto Members Share Comforting Recipes to Warm Hearts, Souls

We send you Loretto’s wishes for a joyful, peaceful, healthy 2023. The Loretto Constitutions tell us, “As a community, we profess unshakeable reliance upon God and human reliance upon one another.” (I Am The Way, #18)
We all come to God as we are, and by grace are changed into what God has called us to be. We have all just celebrated the wonderful feasts of Advent, Christmas and Epiphany. How can we maintain this gift of grace? Here is the answer, the Good News from the Gospel of John 1:12: “But to all who received him, who believe in his name, he gave power to become children of God.” In a word, we become part of the family of God because God reached out to us and made it so. We don’t have to do anything but leave enough space in our life for love. For love. That’s it. Unshakeable reliance on God.
What a way to start the New Year! We offer you love and soup and other comforting recipes! Winter, that time of new life we call our own. Inside, warm, a good book, lovely music and a big bowl or bite of some delicious concoction. Beethoven says, “Only the pure in heart can make good soup.” And Irish author Brendan Francis Behan says, “If it was raining soup, the Irish would go outside with spoons!” (Your writer happens to be Irish.)
