One of the things I’ve enjoyed most over this past decade is welcoming over two dozen interns and/or Loretto Volunteers to join me in the work of our office.

For 35 years, Loretto at the UN has actively advocated for women’s and children’s issues as well as those of peace, justice and the Earth/environment. Student interns and volunteers have been integral to Loretto’s work at the United Nations for decades, and for several years now, Loretto has been partnering with the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Dubuque, Iowa, to advance mutual goals.
Watch a short video of Beth Blissman CoL, Loretto’s representative to the UN, talking with Grace Broome, Loretto at the UN intern since September 2024. Grace has felt challenged to “step into unfamiliar spaces and navigate complex global conversations.”
The growth Grace has experienced is typical of Loretto at the UN interns and volunteers.
