Editor’s Note: This story ran Feb. 5 in the Denverite, an online member-supported news organization. The article by Estaban L. Hernandez offers an update on the construction/renovation process for the campus of the former Loretto Heights College/ Loretto Heights Academy, where for a century the Sisters of Loretto educated girls and young women. An iconic landmark in Denver, the college campus has gone through several sales since the property was deeded by Loretto to Regis in 1989. The process of finding the best use for the site, while maintaining the integrity of the cemetery on the campus where 62 Sisters of Loretto are buried, continues today.
