Women’s Religious Archives Collaborative (which includes the Sisters of Loretto) received a grant from the Lilly Endowment for $4.7 million. This transformative five-year grant will amplify WRAC’s mission to preserve and share the histories of Catholic sisters in the United States by supporting the processing of archival collections, identification of compelling stories within them and the sharing of these stories in relatable and engaging ways. Most notably, the grant will assist WRAC in developing its in-person and online exhibits in the heritage center, add archival staff to process collections so that they can be made accessible, and host a fellowship to encourage research on Catholic sisters. This grant will make a significant impact as it will accelerate WRAC’s ability to share incredible collections over the next five years.
WRAC board member Eileen Harrington CoL said, with this grant, “We can have confidence that Loretto’s story will be told long after we all are gone.”
