Connecting with Loretto: All are welcome!

The Constitutions of the Sisters of Loretto gives us a hint about this week’s message to our readers: “The Spirit of God is not bound, it reveals itself in the lives of everyone. Even as we give to others, we acknowledge our need to learn to those to whom we are sent.” (I Am the Way, #41)

In a homily in 2022, Pope Francis quotes the Gospel of Luke describing Jesus’ invitation to his listeners, “Strive to enter through the narrow gate … some will be first and others last.” The Holy Father then asked, “Do we prefer the easy way of just thinking about ourselves, or do we choose the narrow door of the Gospel?” During this “Jubilee Year 2025 – Pilgrims of Hope” designated by Pope Francis, let us choose the hope-filled path. 

Invitations indeed! Are you looking for more in your life? All of us grow into a commitment, whether we are Sisters, priests, lay ministers, educators of the Word in a CCD program or active in a service organization. Connecting with Loretto in response to today’s Gospel invite is a way to join us in reflecting on that “narrow door.” Our founder, Father Charles Nerinckx called us to “Imitate the zeal of Jesus and Mary.” Are you interested in another way of service?

This week we will share ways to join us in connecting with Loretto. Perhaps you are interested in belonging through Co-membership? Attend a retreat? Become a Loretto Justice Fellow? Would you like to receive our publication, Loretto Magazine? Consider a Loretto Committee.

Another way to connect is with Loretto Link. This is an organization that is an ongoing expression of Loretto values, mission and spirit. It is an independent nonprofit that works for justice and acts for peace.
