March 8, International Women’s Day, brought 2,000 sign-holders to the sidewalks of Brentwood, Mo., to show their support for many actions. The organizers of the event encouraged each participant to exercise the right to gather peacefully. Participants carried signs calling for equality in various forms.

I attended with Loretto friend Jody Patterson. The two-hour, impactful gathering showed me hope as those driving by honked and waved their support. Many attendees shared stories of their reasons for gathering and their desire for justice and peace in our nation and our world. Our sign, one that has seen other days on sidewalks and streets, read “No Justice, No Peace.”
