Localization Workshop Planned for This Month
Posted on July 1, 2022, by Lisa Reynolds CoL
Where were you a year ago on the hot summer afternoon of July 17, 2021? Many of us were engaged in the first annual Workshop on Localization, presented by the Loretto Link Cooperative Economics Working Group in collaboration with Loretto Earth Network and Loretto Outreach.
Emma, a current student working toward a master’s degree in sustainability and ecology experienced “a very diverse and meaningful discussion with other participants,” with whom she’s still in touch.
Amelia, founder of the podcast “Wild Honey Collective,” attended the workshop and through the breakout groups was able to connect with other young people exploring living in a sustainable intentional community. She has since moved to Willow Run, just such a community in Harrisonburg, Va.
Joyce and Pat, inspired by last year’s workshop, are working on an educational campaign regarding just and socially responsible investing.
Help us celebrate our anniversary this coming July 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. ET with the premier of the new film from Local Futures, “Planet Local: A Quiet Revolution.” If you’re concerned about systemic change regarding issues of environmental destruction, racism, colonialism and the role of capitalism and globalization, this presentation is for YOU! We’re grateful for your participation and commitment to a new way forward.
