Loretto Justice Fellowship Final Reflection

What a journey this year has been from orientation until now. I still remember how nervous I was to begin this experience, and now it’s hard to believe that it’s already over. This journey also brought me closer to the El Paso and Loretto communities in such meaningful ways. I had the honor of completing my service with Villa Maria, where I was able to meet and work with women in many different stages of their lives. Through this experience, I witnessed firsthand how impactful and meaningful the work at Villa Maria truly is. The love, support and encouragement I received from the community made this experience even more special and unforgettable.

Anthony Hincks once said, “Outside the window is a world that beckons and inside the window is a world for which the world yearns.” I feel this quote perfectly reflects my experience with the Loretto Justice Fellowship. Stepping outside of my comfort zone opened the door to new opportunities, relationships, and experiences that shaped me in ways I never expected, while also reminding me of the importance of community, compassion and human connection.

One of the biggest takeaways is that even if you are scared or unsure, you should still go for it. You never know what incredible opportunities or inspiring people you may encounter along the way. The Loretto Justice Fellowship gave me exactly that, and it is an experience I will carry with me forever.
