Come take a walk with us on Loretto Motherhouse Farm.

We are going out onto the fields and pastureland. You may be surprised by what you see in these 760 acres.

Hard work, connections to nature, source of food, that’s our farm. It is all about the cycle of life and the rhythms of the seasons. Loretto has had a farm almost its entire Kentucky life, since 1824. It gives us a close relationship to God’s creation and a gratitude to all who have worked the land these many years with perseverance, adaptability and resourcefulness.

The Loretto Motherhouse Farm has always been a source of peace and pride. We thank our farmer Cody Rakes, our Education and Outreach Coordinator Angela Rakes and their co-workers in farming, education and agriculture for tending the land with responsibility and love.

Enjoy the photos and posts about the Farm on our Facebook page this week, and come walk our fields anytime!

A good farmer is a craftsperson of the highest order, a kind of artist.
