The Center for Promotion and Integral Health Celebrates 35 Years of Social Commitment

Loretto Co-member Ana Maria Vargas-Sandoval (below) is the executive director of Centro de Promoción y Salud Integral (CEPROSI) in La Paz, Bolivia. CEPROSI, which has recently celebrated 35 years of social commitment, opened a new space for the prevention of gender violence with a focus on masculinities in the city of El Alto.

The new space has an interdisciplinary team of professionals whose objective is to formulate prevention strategies and exchange of knowledge and information to promote joint actions given the growth of cases of violence in Bolivia. It also focuses on providing quality care and warmth to people affected by domestic violence and people who exercise violence. 

In response to the opening of the new space Vargas-Sandoval said, “We are very excited to be able to offer a space dedicated to the prevention of gender violence with a focus on masculinities. On the issue of violence we were very impressed by the epidemiological study carried out in previous years in the Max Paredes macro-district. We took the step of turning this research into action. And the action goes toward a priority group that are men. We believe that these types of initiatives are fundamental to promoting a culture of equality and respect and to ensure the rights and care of the population.”
