What is Emerging?

In her book entitled “The Unbearable Wholeness of Being: God, Evolution and the Power of Love,” Ilia Delio takes us on a love journey that challenges us to re-examine how we image God — that we begin to know God as life itself, as love itself, as existence itself. Based on the teachings of Teilhard de Chardin, Ilia further calls us to discover and trust this transforming power of love (God) in the inner center of our heart. This is the same love that creates greater consciousness, being and whole- ness in the world — the unbearable wholeness of love constantly becoming more visible and alive. This is the Divine love that fuels the universe as we move into an unknown future. For our part in this transforming love affair, Ilia urges us to choose to be whole, to evolve consciously and be attentive to God’s ongoing work in our lives.

We invite you to join us in taking some quiet time to muse over these thoughts. How have I/you experienced God as life, or existence or love? What does Ilia mean by urging us to choose to be more whole? What might it look like for Loretto to look at our present and our future from within a larger whole?

If you would like to share your reflections with us, we would be happy to receive them. Thank you.
