What is Emerging?

There is a new spiritual movement that has been emerging throughout the Earth for many years called “global spirituality.” It is not a new religion, nor is it coming from different religions. Rather, it is inspired by the Divine in the souls of people around the globe. People are experiencing a deeper understanding of the sacred and of our part in the transformation of the world. It is a calling of the heart by the Divine to love in a new way, drawing people to a mystical rather than a religious expression of faith. The mystical draws us inward and helps us to dwell in our spiritual center. When the mystic heart looks at creation, we see the world imprinted everywhere with the Divine.
This global community holds the sacredness of Earth as well as the communion and unity of hearts. This gives us the ability to see each other as sister and brother and to practice compassion, peace, mercy and forgiveness.
The global spiritual consciousness begins with a mystical premise: “We are never separated from our Source. Our inner journey is joy and bliss. God is fully present to the world.”*
I recently had an interesting connection with global spirituality and the Loretto Community. It came from Mary Swain’s homily on a recent Sunday. These are her words: “There is that deep-down longing in us to know God. There is that drawing toward God which keeps us seeking. There is that desire for God which is part of our being. The longing, the drawing, the desire — all are gifts from God in the first place. God dwelling within us urges us.”
Sounds like the Loretto Community is already a part of this global movement. It is already evolving on this Earth. It will transform our world!
