St. Louis Climate Summit Summary

Beth Blissman attended one day of the three-day St. Louis Climate Summit with Roberta Hudlow. It was an enriching experience filled with academic analysis and fresh, local food. The highlight for Beth was meeting U.N. Human Rights champion 17-year-old Kehkashan Basu, founder of the Green Hope Foundation. She energized the crowd, reminding all that “in the face of disasters brought about by climate change we girls often find ourselves at the end of the value chain, being exploited and trafficked, and our dignity is expendable. This must change. This is why young people like me are speaking out all across the world — demanding our rights to live with dignity — because we are citizens of today and tomorrow. … Environmental apathy must be done away with, and we all have a role to play.”
