A Little Paint Goes a Long Way

Knobs Haven’s refurbished sign catches your eye once again.

As I travel back and forth to the Motherhouse, I’ve noticed the Knobs Haven sign along the road needed a touch-up.

In October I told JoAnn Gates I would paint it. The letters on this handmade wooden sign, which was made years ago by JoAnn’s father, George, were faded. Each letter on the sign is engraved about a fourth of an inch and gave me a good challenge. With a thin brush and a steady hand — success! Jeanne Dueber and I chose white paint for the sign so it would pop as they say on HGTV. I had a beautiful fall day to do the painting. Volunteers were working near me spreading cedar mulch as my sense of smell delighted in the aroma while I painted the sign.

Beauty always surrounds the grounds at Loretto Motherhouse.
