Gifts Freely Given: Loretto Talents on Display!
Posted on July 25, 2021, by Loretto Community
Loretto Archives keeps thousands of pictures of our Sisters and Co-members — very fun photos, views of celebrations, service, pictures of religious experiences and so much more. Each image tells a story about the gifts being shared, about family and friends, belonging to Community and ministries being carried out – a variety of talents, not hidden, but lived out according to the Gospel call each person has received.
Paul tells us in 1 Cor. 12:4, “Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same spirit.” The gifts of each person, given to everyone for the common good is a treasure. We are placed side-by-side with one another. No one is better, no one is above another, because all that we are and all that we have is of God. Our job? Hold the gifts lightly so we can give them away. Have a unity of spirit and a tender heart for each person, and an appreciation for all the talents that God has given us.
Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?

Loretto Constitutions, “I Am the Way,” #23, say, “To be a power of reconciliation demands that we deeply respect diversity of being and diversity of gifts. It further demands that we collaborate with all those, whoever they may be, who seek to break down barriers between people and to build up human communion.”
This week pick out some words that describe your gifts, share them on our Loretto Facebook page, and we will tell you ours! Let’s all seek to share the gifts of overflowing kindness, simplicity of living, mercy freely given, fidelity in relationships and deepening love for another.
“We affirm that the greatest asset of the community is the life of every member.”

What is the name of the chapel at The Holy House of Loretto where all of the memorabilia are shown in display cases? Such as the photos of the astronauts…
Dear Terry,
You may be thinking of the House of Loreto (spelled with one “t”) Shrine in Italy. Those who fly (astronauts, pilots, etc.) are patrons; there are those who believe that angels transported Mary’s house to Italy through air. Here is a link to a Catholic News Agency article that provides more detail:
