Hope for the future: Loretto Volunteers at the UN

Posted on August 27, 2019, by Beth Blissman CoL

Since being invited to represent the Loretto Community at the United Nations 2 1/2 years ago, I have had the chance to work with numerous young people and my hope for the future lies with them…

For example, our 2019 summer interns Anna and Gracie have both put their heart and soul into representing Loretto at the United Nations for a short, yet vibrant, experience that they describe in this reflection video.

I am both impressed with how much they learned in a brief period of time, and also deeply grateful that they represented us at so many more events than I could have attended alone.

In addition to reporting on events, these innovative interns also helped us digitize and upload some K-5 Peace Education resources for teachers. Considering that [we recently marked] the 74th anniversary of the bombing of Nagasaki, Japan, we can certainly use all of the Peace Education resources we can find!

Thank you, Gracie Mannion and Anna Farber, for sharing your skills, insights and many gifts with the Loretto Community!
