Loretto grieves with the LGBTQ+ community, rebukes hate

Posted on November 22, 2022, by Loretto Community

We members of the Loretto Community hold in our hearts and prayer all those family members and friends of the LGBTQ+ community as they grieve the loss of those killed and injured in the Nov. 19 Colorado Springs shooting.

We are committed to work toward a world where reverence for all living beings finds expression in an approach to life free from violence. We believe that every person, exactly as they are and know themselves to be, is a precious child of God. God sees, knows, loves and affirms each of us, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer persons.

In Loretto, we stand in opposition to all forms of exclusion and violence committed against any member of the human family. There can be no tolerance for hate. We have committed ourselves to work for justice and act for peace as the Gospel urges us. The cycle of violence must be halted with the actions we take to stop hate and initiate healing toward right relationships.
