Loretto Stands with, Commits to LGBT Youth/Persons
Posted on March 8, 2021, by Loretto Community
Loretto President Barbara Nicholas, on behalf of the Sisters of Loretto/Loretto Community, joined with other women religious congregations in Kentucky to sign a statement making public their support for LGBT youth/persons. The statement, created by the Catholic LGBT Ministry of the Diocese of Lexington, Ky., and its Fortunate Families Ministry, was dated March 7.
The document “should give tremendous hope and even perhaps serve as an example of how other dioceses can foster the culture of encounter and accompany this marginalized community so beloved by God!” noted Stan “JR” Zerkowski in an email to Loretto today, March 8, announcing the document’s release. Zerkowski serves as director of the Diocese of Lexington LGBT Ministry and executive director of Fortunate Families. He asked all to please share the statement.
