My name is Amanda Mattingly, and I am the new Volunteer Director for the Loretto Motherhouse and Infirmary. I am a local, having grown up in Springfield, Ky., and now residing in Bardstown, Ky. All of my family call the tri-county area (Marion, Washington and Nelson counties) home. My family is blessed to own a multi-generational farm in Springfield. I was educated at St. Catharine College (a Dominican school) with an undergraduate double major in marketing and management and received my master’s in community and regional leadership. I was employed by the St. Catharine College until its closure in 2016.

I’m married to Chris Mattingly, the Pastoral Care director at the Loretto Motherhouse Infirmary. We have been blessed with a son named Alexander, who was born on the Feast of St. Nicholas on Dec. 6, 2018. My hobbies include photography and crafts when I have time.

It is my hope that we can continue to establish relationships with the local community and get more local schools involved.

In the future I hope to establish a culture of volunteerism with the local schools. Recently we hosted volunteers from Marion County High School’s Smile Club (Lebanon, Ky.). They mulched the courtyard and spent time delivering goody bags to our residents in the Infirmary. While here they also played board games and helped with arts and crafts.

We also have hosted volunteers from St. Dominic School (Springfield) for a short morning trip. They viewed the Heritage Center and were taught how to play Spite and Malice (a popular card game) by our sisters and lay residents.

It is my hope that we can continue to establish relationships with the local community and get more local schools involved.
