New Pioneers, in proud partnership with the Loretto Community, successfully hosted its inaugural summer day camp this June, Where the Wild Things Are! Designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and foster a strong connection to nature, the camp welcomed forty local youth to the Loretto Motherhouse Farm for a week of immersive outdoor exploration and environmental education.

Over the course of five days, campers engaged with four unique regional habitats: Grasslands, woodlands, farmlands, and wetlands. The rich diversity of activities was designed to engage campers’ curiosity and build connections with the natural world. Highlights include catching frogs and bugs, viewing a demonstrative beehive, enjoying hayrides, meeting a friendly sheep, and diving into the vital topic of native species and their importance in our ecosystem. Each activity was carefully crafted to encourage hands-on learning and foster a sense of wonder and respect for nature.
