What is Emerging?

Perhaps one of the most important lessons learned, or, re-learned, from the COVID-19 experience is that we are all one: one with all of humanity, all of creation and the cosmos, and one with the Divine Mystery! Thomas Merton teaches that the deepest level of communication is not communication, but communion. So we do not discover a new kind of unity, but an older kind that has been known for a long time that we are already ONE. So what we have to recover or re-learn, Merton says, is our original unity.
Meister Eckhart (1260 – 1329) spoke of God as “Isness” and said that the moment when the human flowed out from the Creator, all creatures stood up and shouted: “Behold, here is God!”
We invite you to wonder and muse with us this basic truth of who we really are. Does recovering our original unity mean that in the beginning you and I were truly one with God? How have I/you experienced this oneness?
The lovely namaste* prayer proclaims this truth. Perhaps if we pray it often with attention and intention we can begin to become more conscious of this deep truth that is wanting to burst forth in our world today. We invite you to join us as we pray:
I honor the place in you where the universe resides.
I honor the place in you of love, of light, of truth, of peace.
I honor the place within you where, if you are in that place in you and I am in that place in me, there is only ONE of us. Namaste.
If you’d like to share your reflections with us, we’d be happy to receive them. Thank you, and special June blessings!
