Notions of white supremacy and racism have deep ties to the history and culture of nuclear weapons.

International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons

Over the years, several Loretto members have demonstrated at Los Alamos, N.M., on Aug. 6 or 9 in sorrowful memory of the U.S. bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This year, the Archdiocese of Santa Fe provided an opportunity to join in the Aug. 9 commemoration at the Santa Fe Cathedral Basilica via livestreaming. Archbishop John Wester offered Mass and a healing ceremony, with a homily on nuclear disarmament. Following Mass, the Archbishop joined with other interfaith leaders in a panel discussion.
