Loretto Joins Laudato Si’ Action Platform, Commits to Journey Toward Integral Ecology
The Loretto Community Forum announced Oct. 1 its endorsement of the Loretto Community Groups’ enthusiastic agreement to express the Community’s participation in the Laudato Si’ Action Platform when it is officially unveiled. The platform is expected to open Nov. 14, at which time Loretto Earth Education and Advocacy Coordinator Jessie Rathburn CoL will make the Community’s commitment on behalf of Loretto.
The Loretto Community’s commitment statement is as follows:
“As Friends of Mary at the Foot of the Cross, called to bring the healing spirit of God into our world, the Loretto Community joins the Laudato Si’ Action Platform on a journey toward integral ecology.
“Through this seven-year journey, we commit ourselves to hear the cry of Earth and the cry of the Poor; to examine our practices in light of ecological economics, spirituality and education; to adopt simpler lifestyles; and to engage in action in solidarity with all others in this global movement.
“Recognizing our human dependence on the larger whole, we willingly enter into a process of ecological conversion to restore balance and contribute to the common good.
The Loretto Community Laudato Si’ Action Plans will address our response in a wholistic, imaginative, creative manner, dedicating our time, energy and resources to this process. We eagerly join and stand in solidarity with all who join in this journey.”
