For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.

Matthew 25:35-36

Many people separate the words “immigration” and “justice.” Loretto does not. For more years than we can count, Loretto members in the Southwest, Mexico, Denver, Missouri,  Illinois, Alabama, Kentucky, New York and countless places in between have carried out immigration justice work. Our members have taken to heart the above quote from Matthew’s 25th chapter. Matthew’s community followed the example of Jesus’ teachings and action. They remembered the stories they heard about Jesus when he was with their ancestors. It is our gift and task today to hear these words, too, and respond. “Immigration” and “justice” truly go together.

On Facebook this week, we’ll highlight some examples of what immigration justice looks like, Loretto style.
