Reflection on the 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Posted on September 10, 2023, by Maria Visse SL

God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.

In today’s reading I take on faith these guidelines for life in the world today.  Faith, that means going forward when you  know that what you are doing is just right. We are all aware of what hate and division have done to our daily life today. So how do we bring love of neighbor into our lives? How do we find ways to enter into conversations with friends and neighbors that can bring some harmony to the divisions that have become so entrenched?

In the Chat session we had the other night it was so reassuring to hear a few people share the ways they are showing love of the neighbor. That is the beauty of life in the Loretto Community and LINK and all those who in some way share in the desire of Loretto to take on the message of reconciliation. We share in the efforts of each of us as we find ways to share our individual gifts for the greater good.

I just come back to the simple truths. Everyone has something to share.  I take to heart that promise given at the end of the Gospel, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the midst of them.” There is that energy in the whole of Creation, the energy that moves toward wholeness.
