What is Emerging?

It is no secret that throughout the centuries ordinary people have been called to a prophetic vocation. Abraham Heschel taught that “there is the grain of the prophet in the recesses of every human existence.” And Matthew Fox suggests “the prophet in each
of us is our social conscience, our heartfelt concern about the loved ones of God who suffer needlessly. … The prophet carries on the creative energy of God, when it has been stifled by injustice. Article 33 in “I Am the Way” reverberates these quotes: “We strive to bring the healing Spirit of God into our world and commit ourselves to improving the conditions of those who suffer from injustice, oppression, and deprivation of dignity.”
Well then, let’s delve into this a bit more! Could we say that today, in this space and time, we all need to take this calling seriously, to see what is emerging within us, and open ourselves to what it means for me/you to be a prophet today? And further, what does it mean to belong to a prophetic community? And what difference does it really make, after all?
Teilhard de Chardin realized that we humans are in evolution and that evolution entails a rise in consciousness giving rise to a new type of person. This may be our prophetic role: to contribute in this shift of consciousness, to raise the powers of love upward to the next stage of consciousness. God is doing a new thing!
We invite you to join us in pondering this prophetic journey: What do I/you have to let go of for the prophet within us to become more alive? How do we as a Community experience the prophetic call? How do we respond?
We would be happy to receive any response from you. Thank you.
