Loretto Shines Light on Former Loretto Volunteers This Advent

Posted on December 12, 2022, by Loretto Community

Advent is an invitation time. We are invited to take time during these winter days to see where we are. We are not talking about Christmas shopping! We are talking about listening to how the Spirit of God calls us and opens us to the grace of Advent. We can put ourselves in the spiritual space of the Israelite community that waited for the coming of the Messiah. Waiting is hard, and we have work to do! The psalmist asks, “How long, O Lord?” Is that your question also as you wait and watch for the coming of the Christ?

A young woman in a white baseball cap stands in front of a tall stone chapel with a rose window above the arch of the door. She leans on a carved stone sign that reads "Loretto."

The philosopher Hafiz says, “The place where you are right now, God circled on a map for you.”

Where are you? Turning toward the light of Advent. Turning toward grace.

We invite you this week to go to Loretto’s Facebook page where past Loretto Volunteers will be featured. We asked them, “Where are you? What are you doing with your life now?” Educators, actors, engineers, lawyers, doctors and more – working for justice and acting for peace! We think you will love to read their answers. We did. Loretto says to them, “Welcome back. We have missed you.”
